About Heidi Louise, Australian shoemaker
Color is Life!!
I gain inspiration from the bright colors and curved lines of the underwater world.
"Color is life" as the saying goes.
I like to incorporate fins and florescent colors of tropical fish with the curved lines and contours of the female body, as crazy as that sounds!
I am drawn to natural materials like leather, shell, linen, cotton, wool, wood, stone. I think being touched by nature is good for the soul.
Stepping outside the limitations of high fashion I like to carve my own path in design and combine unique styles with practicality and comfort.
Heidi Cozens, Owner of Heidi Louise Shoemaker
Born in a small South Australian town in 1974, I graduated as a fully qualified Shoemaker 1994 at Marleston Tafe.
I went on to study with Tim Skryme to learn more of the forgotten hand skills of the trade.
Each pair of shoes is hand made by me in my Adelaide work-space. I use all leather upper, lining, stiffeners, and insoles.
Also the highest quality solings are chosen for comfort and support.
The main reason that I became a shoemaker was my love of shoes and, at the time, a need for something different.
I am certainly a hard worker and a fanatic for perfection. I don’t take short cuts when it comes to making shoes I do everything the hard way, the original way, the quality way.
When it comes to shoe designs my brain doesn’t stop. I will often think of new shoe designs at the oddest times. I can wake in the night with new design, or I can see a shape or a colour and ponder a new design from that inspiration.
Being creative and handcrafting unique shoes makes me happy and gives me a reason to get up and get going everyday.
